- We have an extra person at Silfra assisting you before and after the snorkelling experience. We call this person Surface Support and they make sure your tour runs smoothly. They also provide extra safety for you and the guides.
- We built our own changing room so that our guests have the opportunity to dress up inside a heated changing van.
- After snorkeling in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies.
- Our guides are all experienced PADI divemasters and instructors that have been through professional training before running any of our tours.
You start your tour at Laxnes Horse Farm (about 30 minutes from Reykjavik) where you will join your horseback riding tour.
At Laxnes Horse Farm you will go on a pleasurable ride through the beautiful valley of Mosfellsdalur. Horse enthusiasts will already know that the Icelandic horses are an extremely special and protected breed, but beginners are also welcome to join the horseback riding tour. You will be provided with riding equipment before you are handed one of their friendly and sure-footed Icelandic horses suitable for both beginners and experienced riders. Get ready to be charmed by the breathtaking scenery of the Mosfell valley!
This is a self-drive tour so you will meet us at the Silfra meeting point. After your horseriding tour, you will continue on your journey to Thingvellir National Park, the drive takes about 30 minutes. You will have time between the tours to check out the park which is a UNESCO historic site and one of the stops on the popular Golden circle. We recommend to have lunch at Thingvellir.
The magical fissure Silfra was created when the earth was ripped open by the movement of tectonic plates. The fissure marks the divide between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and it is filled with crystal clear glacial water. This is a self drive tour, pick up and drop off is not included. After your snorkeling tour you can continue on the Golden circle where the famous Gullfoss and Geysir await.

- Approx. 7 hours, approx 2h horseriding tour and 3h snorkeling tour
- Maximum of 6 snorkelers per snorkel guide (the horseback riding tour might have more)

Please bring:
- Long underwear

Safety requirements

- sign our liability release form at the start of the snorkeling tour PDF
- be at minimum 150cm/ maximum 200cm
- be at minimum 45kg / maximum 120kg
- fit within our dry suit size chart PDF
- be at least 12 years of age on the year and at least 45 kg / 99 lbs
- be comfortable in water and be able to swim
- be physically fit
- be ready to wear a sometimes tight & constricting dry suit
- be able to communicate in English
- not be pregnant
TIMELINE OF YOUR TOUR
- Arrival at the meeting point at Laxnes horse farm @9:30 for your tour @10:00
- Briefing and gear up
- Approx. 2 hour horseriding tour in Mosfell valley
- Drive to Thingvellir National park, time to have lunch and walk around before snorkel tour
- Arrival at the meeting point at Silfra 15 minutes before the tour start time, check-in with guides
- Division into groups of 6 people, one group per guide
- Briefing and gear-up with your guide (∼1 hour total)
- Once you are fully dressed, your guide will take a number from the park ranger and that will be your group’s number to enter the water
- Make your way to the entry platform, short wait (wait time may vary)
- 30-45 minutes spent in the water
- Exit through platform, walk back to the meeting point (∼250 meters)
- Take off equipment, enjoy hot chocolate and cookies to warm up
- At this point, you will have time to chat with your guide, ask any questions you might have and take a look at the pics taken during the tour
